THE ZOMI CHIN LANGUAGE
There are more than thirty varieties of the Chin language. Of those, Zomi Chin is spoken by 344,000 people, mainly in Myanmar. Due to persecution, the Chin people have immigrated to the United States, in Washington state, Canada, and Australia.
Many believe that the Chin and Burmese languages are the same, however, though many Chin people speak Standard Burmese, the two are different. Zomi Chin is not taught formally in schools, but it is at home and through local churches. Because of the Christian Churches and missionaries, Chin is available in written form.
